Lightning down under.

We have phenomenal storms here in Australia and this is a gorgeous Lightning Ridge crystal Opal that I cut into a cloud. I try to let the stones evolve into the pieces I make. One of my biggest problems is cutting away millions of years of creation. I’d rather not!
This is a perfect example of keeping as much of this precious sparkly crystal Opal as I could to show case its beauty.

I have set this Opal in fine silver on a sterling silver back plate with 18k gold lightning strike and bale. This comes with a sterling silver snake chain. I have made the bale big enough for you to interchange your choice of chain.

I hope you like this fun piece.

TCW: 1.200

Length: 21 mm

Width: 13 mm

I am lucky enough to be able to cut my own stones as well as create and present to you my  original works. Each piece is put together with the passion I have for making jewellery. Please be aware that these Opals may have natural pits and markings. They are as nature intended I have only cut, shaped and polished, I have not even tried to remove any imperfections.

If you've never had a little bit of Australia how better to start than with a collectible piece. Or you may be in love with Opals like me and can't help but add to your collection.

Frequently asked question:  Can my Opal go in water?

All Australian Opals CAN go into water.  They are not porous.  Australian Opal are the most durable of all the Opals.  Please don't confuse other Opal with Australian Opal.  The only time you need to be careful of submerging Australian Opal in water is when they are doublets and triplets because of the glue used to hold the slice of Opal onto the backing.  Anyone who sells doublets or triplets should give you full disclosure.  All my Opals are solid and will not change or alter in water. Guaranteed!!

*all photos are taken by me on my iPhone. Sunlight and direct light is the best way to see the beauty and intensity of colour in an Opal.
